Whitening

Whitening, or bleaching, is achieved through using hydrogen peroxide or closely related carbamide peroxide gel to remove stains from a tooth. Stains and discolorations can be due to a number of factors; for example coffee, tea, smoking, tetracycline stains, developmental defects, and other factors.

At Bay Pointe Dental, we have 5 different options for bleaching teeth or removing discolorations.

Custom Bleach Trays- We take impressions of your mouth and fabricate trays to precisely deliver uniform amounts of bleach to your teeth. We then measure the shade of your teeth and give instructions on how to use the trays. For instructions, click here. Our office uses Opalescence, by Ultradent. The product comes in 15% strength for fast results, or 10% for patients with sensitive teeth.

LiquidSmile Pen- New at Bay Pointe! Liquid Smile is a new way to whiten at home. The pen allows you to whiten your teeth in one hour at home. For instructions on Liquid Smile, click here.

Power Bleaching- For those who want results now, power bleaching uses a highly concentrated gel that is light activated. This takes about an hour at the dentist's office, but provides great results.

Internal Tooth Bleaching- If you have had a root canal on a tooth and it has darkened, we can bleach the tooth from the inside. The gel stays in over night and is very affective.

Decalcification or Stain Removal- Some stains such as "white spots" must be removed using a hand piece and an abrasive polish. If you have "white spots" or other developmental stains, let us take a look and see what can be done.
